TWO GRAPHICS to grab for upcoming issue!
Who loves drawing and also your student newspaper?
Hey everyone,
Happy end to the midterm-season! I hope you’re all staying safe and warm — this week, we’ve got two graphics to assign for our upcoming digital issue. You can let me know if you’d like to grab one by emailing me (Carleen) at graphics@theconcordian.com. Otherwise, reach out anytime to ask questions, chat, or suggest graphics/art to feature!
All the graphics below are due back Sunday, November 19th at noon.
Title: Student Self-Care
Description: At the end of a semester, Concordian students generally have a tougher time taking care of their basic needs like sleep, food, and exercise as the workload increases. How do we combat this, and take care of ourselves during busy periods?
Suggestion: A student taking care of themself — maybe someone curled up on their couch under a blanket, reading and with a bowl of soup next to them (or something else that speaks to self-care for you!)
Title: Flooding in Libya
Description: Libyans are still experiencing the disastrous effects of flooding that caused large-scale destruction and deaths in September. This piece focuses on how faulty infrastructure and abuses of power may be to blame.
Suggestion: This is an extreme and unfolding tragedy — the graphic could focus on IFRC (Red Crescent) first responders and divers wading through the water. Alternatively, since this tragedy is raising awareness of other precarious dam infrastructure worldwide as climate disasters increase, the graphic could be of a dam whose holding capacity is just crossing the reservoir’s capacity line.
That’s all for this week! If you’re interested in claiming a graphic, or have any questions, remember to reach out to me at graphics@theconcordian.com.
Thanks so much!
