Hi everyone,
The days are getting darker earlier, which is a sign to cozy up and do some drawing! There are three graphics to grab for out upcoming print issue, you can let me know if you’d like to grab one by emailing me (Carleen) at graphics@theconcordian.com. Otherwise, reach out anytime to ask questions, chat, or suggest graphics/art to feature!
All the graphics below are due back this Sunday, November 12th at noon.
Title: AI and literacy
Description: Deliberate misinformation has been spreading across digital media platforms through AI-generated imagery. How can we tell AI images and legitimate ones from each other?
Suggestion: If you’re comfortable with AI image creation, we can work together to create a compare-contrast of an AI image and a genuine one. Alternatively, a graphic of someone looking confused as flyers and posts with similar-looking imagery circles around them.
Title: Lack of coverage of Ukraine-Russia war
Description: There has been a growing lack of coverage of the Ukraine-Russia war despite ongoing atrocities — how do we combat changing media cycles, and media-consumption burnout?
Suggestion: A news camera on a dolly pivoting away from one fire and turning towards another. We could also do something around media cherry-picking or coverage deserts, if we can also relate it to the story!
Title: A personal experience of breast reduction surgery
Description: A Concordian editor has recently undergone breast reduction surgery, and is writing about her experience, specifically why it was necessary for her, what the surgery was like, and the recovery process.
Suggestion: She suggests a woman in the mirror with band-aids stuck to it. We could also focus on the recovery aspect, with a woman shown laying on the couch with ice packs piled high on top of her.
That’s all! If you’re interested in claiming a graphic, or have any questions, remember to reach out to me at graphics@theconcordian.com.
Thanks so much, everyone. Take care and stay warm!
