THREE Graphics needed for Print Issue!
Let's get the semester going with some illustrating!
Hey, everyone!
It’s crazy that it's already almost the end of January — I hope you’re all settling into your new classes and schedules amazingly. This week, we have three graphics to be assigned to you incredible artists. If you’d like to claim a graphic, reach out to me (Carleen) at graphics@theconcordian.com (or feel free to reach out about anything else, too!)
All the graphics below are due back Sunday, January 28th at noon.
Title: The Value of Being a Beginner
Description: Following a workshop at Concordia, our Co-News editor discusses how to enjoy being a beginner, practice self-compassion, and find love for being mediocre at things for a while!
Suggestion: Two people crocheting next to each other, laughing together as their yarn is tangled up together and altogether looking pretty bad.
Title: TikTok Creating False Relatability
Description: Scrolling on social media, we often see content that is somehow remarkably "so me". Don't be fooled, however—this is just the algorithm's creepy magic fostering a false sense of community and isolating people further.
Suggestion: A phone with an ear laying on a table as its owner chats with someone — OR a graphic of a person oozing/growing out of a phone, looking perfectly pretty and shiny.
Title: Palestine’s Potentially Historic Performance at the Asian Cup
Description: The Palestinian national football team is looking to qualify for the Asian Cup for the first time in history, as team members’ own family members are killed by the ongoing and horrific genocide in Gaza. This piece will feature interviews with Palestinian students to discuss whether a Palestinian victory on the world stage would be impactful for them.
Suggestion: Some of the Palestinian players lined up for their anthem, wearing keffiyehs — having the Palestinian' flag’s colours (red, green, black, and white) play a prominent role in this graphic would be perfect.
That’s all for this week! If you’d like to draw for one of the articles above, be sure to shoot me an email at graphics@theconcordian.com. Otherwise, to be added to our list of graphics contributors, click here.
Thanks so much, have a great end-of-semester, everyone!
