Three Graphics Needed for Last Issue of the Year!
Get your illustrations into the paper before the summer break!
Hey, all!
Happy last week of the semester, I hope your exams go so well! This week, for our final issue (digital) of the semester, we have three graphics to be assigned to you incredible artists. If you’d like to claim a graphic, reach out to me (Carleen) at graphics@theconcordian.com (or feel free to reach out about anything else, too!)
All the graphics below are due back Sunday, April 14th at noon.
Title: New Sports in Summer Olympics
Description: In the upcoming summer Olympics in Paris, there are four new sports added to the list: breaking (i.e. break-dancing), surfing, skateboarding, and climbing! Our Sports Editor asks Concordians about the additions.
Suggestion: Four silhouettes/figures doing the added sports, or an illustration of a surfer/climber/skateboarder/break-dancer!
Title: The Recent Huge Successes of Women’s Sports
Description: An article about the success of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (demand for tickets has been super high), Caitlin Clark’s recent successes and hype, and the potential new women’s professional soccer league (called Project 8).
Suggestion: Many screens showing women’s sports, or maybe a collage graphic of women athletes moving in one direction.
Title: How Concordia Communicates
Description: An article about Concordia’s internal communication (what does Concordia respond to and what don't they). Focusing on how Concordia communicates about the genocide in Gaza: are they being transparent with students?
Suggestion: This graphic could either focus on a lack of institutional transparency (so maybe a line of Concordia admin entering a giant vault), or focus on a deliberate lack of communication on the genocide in Gaza (maybe a group of writers on computers on top of a tall building, with phrases like “We are deeply saddened by…” “Committed to respect and empathy…” coming from them, while fire burns below).
That’s all for the semester! If you’d like to draw for one of the articles above, be sure to shoot me an email at graphics@theconcordian.com. Otherwise, to be added to our list of graphics contributors, click here.
Thanks so much, have a summer, everyone!
