Quebecers’ votes are in. Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) will remain in power until 2026.
The CAQ won 41 per cent of the vote and 89 seats in the National Assembly, the most seats any party has won in Quebec since 1989. This marked an increase of 15 seats since the 2018 elections.
Last month, Iran’s morality police arrested 22-year-old Mahsa Amini for not wearing a hijab. Amini died several days later while in custody, and many Iranians believe she was killed due to police violence. Her death triggered worldwide protests denouncing the Iranian regime.
At Concordia, the Iranian community does not feel supported by the University.
The Every Child Matters march took place on Friday, Sept. 30, in Montreal to commemorate the second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Montrealers wearing orange shirts gathered at the base of Mount Royal to listen to powerful speeches by Indigenous leaders before beginning the march through Downtown Montreal.
As of Oct. 2, 13 member associations (MAs) within the Arts and Science Federation of Associations (ASFA) have passed a mandate to strike from Oct. 3 - 7 for a fall reading week. The growing awareness of the reading week strike has spread across Concordia, resulting in some students having strong thoughts on the subject.
The Concordian interviewed students across the Loyola campus to get their opinions regarding the reading week strike.
Residents of Concordia’s newest student residence, Le Mildoré, are stuck waiting to move into their new dorms weeks after the supposed move-in date. Numerous construction delays resulted in Concordia Residence Life postponing Le Mildoré's move-in date from the end of August to late October.
The Concordia Farmers’ Market makes its comeback for the fall semester. Until the last week of October, vendors will offer local and organic products to students. The market takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays at Loyola and on Thursdays at the downtown campus.
