Hello all!
Welcome back to The Concordian’s Pitch List for Volume 43! We’ll be sending out these emails every Saturday at 9AM with story ideas for you to cover. If you’re interested in covering any of these topics, send an email to the respective Section Editor no later than Tuesday morning. Your first draft is due by Wednesday unless otherwise discussed with the Section Editor.
Even if the pitches here don’t spark your interest, we’d still love to hear from you! Send us your own pitch ideas — our Editors welcome and encourage submissions from everyone.
These stories will be published in our next digital issue on March 17th.

OQLF visit into stores
The Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF) announced it was preparing 14,000 “secret visits” into 7800 stores across the province, with particular focus on Montreal and its more anglophone/bilingual neighbourhoods.
List of potential people and organizations to interview/get statements from:
Quebec French Language Minister Jean-François Roberge
The Office québécois de la langue française
Store owners, especially those located in Montreal’s anglophone/multicultural neighbourhoods, about their concerns.
The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, which represents the business community in Montreal.
City of Montreal
Soraya Martinez Ferrada’s office
Chantal Gagnon, executive committee member responsible for economic and green economic development
Leslie Roberts, associate councillor responsible for universities and higher education, the downtown core, and the anglophone community
Local elected officials in the anglophone/multicultural boroughs of the city
Local elected officials in the independent municipalities on the Island of Montreal
Please note that these are only ideas, you don’t have to reach out to all of them, or you can reach out to others! 1. Film Column (150 words each)
In celebration of the International Women’s month, the theme for this week will be “when women lead.” What films directed by women and/or about women have inspired you? Films that platform women’s voices and equality. Some ideas to stir up your brain juices are: Little Women (2019), Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019), Mona Lisa Smile (2003) and Promising Young Woman (2020). You could take a title from this list or come up with your own! The first draft is due on March 11.
2. Artists vs AI (500 words)
How does the rise of AI content, especially AI art, inspire artists with creativity that’s never been seen before? Talk to Concordia artists about how they deal with this situation, and what they do to make their stuff unique. Also, talk to faculty in the Faculty of Fine Arts about how they are adapting to the widespread use of AI.
3. CASA Cares fashion show on March 14
This year’s theme is “Moonlight Mirage.”

Retour sur les Jeux de la Com! (500 mots)
Passe en entrevue la délégation concordienne par rapport à leur performance au sein des Jeux de la Communications, qui a eu lieu à Québec, 1er au 5 mars 2026 dernier.
Échange d’énergie en Studio Yoga (500 mots)
Envie de te reposer, et bouger un peu? Explique le concept d’échange d’énergie en studio yoga, et va tester le studio Yoga Club qui offre ce service à Montréal. Passe en entrevue la responsable du programme Olivia ainsi que 2 usagers des lieux afin de comprendre mieux l’impact et l’avantage de l’échange d’énergie.
Festival Filministe (500 mots)
Dans le cadre du Festival Filministes, la brasserie Mellön organise une soirée de projection de courts métrages le dimanche 8 mars à compter de 19h. Réunie sous la thématique des Territoires fragiles, la sélection composée de six films est d’une durée de 80 minutes. L’entrée est gratuite, sans réservation et les places sont limitées.
Portrait d’artiste: Jules Al-Simaani Goulet (350-400 mots)
Rencontre l’artiste, parle de son procesus de création et de composition. Nouvelle compo “Gabrielle”.
