We’re back this week with everything you need to know about the Stingers and sports at Concordia!
Our latest articles:
Phélix Martineau’s Unique Hockey Path Has Led Him Exactly Where He Wants To Be:
Captain of the Stingers’ men’s hockey team Phélix Martineau explains how difficult it was for him to go from playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League to playing professional hockey.
He decided to put school first and went to Concordia to study industrial engineering.
Although he plans on going back to playing the sport professionally after graduation, he knows that he will have to hang his skates one day, and that’s when he will make good use of his degree.
Ads On NHL Jerseys Really Aren’t That Bad:
The NHL introduced ads on jerseys this year, allowing teams to bring in extra revenue by partnering with sponsors and having patches representing them on jerseys.
Although the RBC patches on the Montreal Canadiens jerseys are very much in your face, the strong reaction was overblown.
Perhaps, if they were more discreet, people wouldn’t have been so opposed to these ads. But as is the case with ads in the NHL, people will forget about them.
Aaron Judge Should Be Number One:
After hitting 62 home runs on Oct. 4, Aaron Judge should have the single-season home run record. But he doesn’t.
Three former MLB players are ahead of him, but they shouldn’t be as they have all tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
This should be enough to make them lose their records and put Judge at the top of the list, but sadly, the league’s steroid scandals continue to overshadow talent.
Here are last week’s Stingers' scores:
Bold: regular-season games
Italics: non-league games (exhibition, preseason, tournament, or non-conference)
