K, now down to business. Here’s how to claim an assignment:
Choose a topic that interests you from the list below. Note the date and time for any events that need to be covered.
Contact our visuals editors ASAP to claim the pitch. It’s first come, first served!
Submit your work by the following Sunday.
DEADLINE: Sunday, October 23
Photo pitches:
When: October 17-23
Where: Various locations around MTL
Multidisciplinary festival of Scandinavian and Nordic art. We need a photo gallery of a few of the different events.
Grey Nuns library reopening
Where: Grey Nuns residence at the corner of Rene-Levesque and Guy
A photo of Grey Nuns library building or of students studying inside. Make sure to get names, majors, and years of students if their faces are in the photo. You need your Concordia ID to get in.
When: Tuesday, October 18, 6-8 PM
Where: Shatford Hall at St Jax's Centre near Guy-Concordia Station
CSU event for writer Nora Loreto’s new book. We need photos of Loreto during her talk.
When: Wednesday, October 19, 4-7 PM
Where: Loyola Campus Gardens
A dinner party using local produce from Concordia’s urban garden projects, students from Concordia’s jazz program will be performing as well. We need pics of the dinner party and jazz ensemble. Make sure to get names, majors, and years of students in the photos.
When: Wednesday, October 19, 10-11 AM
Where: 770 Sherbrooke W
Organised by Réseau des Tables régionales de groupes de femmes du Québec, this story will discuss what they are protesting and why. We need pics of the protest.

Graphics pitches:
You are free to illustrate the stories however you choose. Below are descriptions of the pitches and any ideas we have in mind for the visual.
INFOGRAPHIC: Electoral system reform
A Léger survey conducted for the Journal de Montréal Oct. 7-10 of 1,040 Quebec adults asked respondents whether they wanted “a reform of the current electoral system.” The story would highlight the survey + explain the current distorted electoral system.
What we need: An infographic visualizing data from survey. This data will be provided, and the graphics editor will give more details if you are interested. The infographic should be clear but illustrative of the story’s topic.
Centraide
Centraide is a Concordia fund which aides those in poverty around Montreal. The story will talk about what they do and will look at the way it is funded.
Bubble tea review
A review of a bubble tea place near campus.
Illegal streaming of sports games
A column about accessibility of sports, illegal streaming etc.
Idea: A jumbotron with the FBI piracy warning?
Men, sports, and emotion
A column discussing how some men become aggressive and ultra-masculine while watching sports.
Ice cream: Cone vs. cup
A heated debate over the best ice cream container.
Idea: A cup of ice cream with a cone on top?
Musicians: In it for the money?
An opinion piece which asks, “are artists just putting out music to make money?”
