Hello everyone! I am Esther, the new Arts Editor at The Concordian, and will be writing these newsletter every week from now on.
First week of school is already done, we got this. Some of us are news students, some of us returning, and others haven’t been in school for ten years. What we have in common is we’re all looking for community. This newsletter hopes to build connections between students and the art world.
This newsletter will consist of giving you a brief summary of the articles we wrote each week + starting next week upcoming art events at Concordia you shouldn’t miss + events in the greater Montreal/Tiohtià:ke area.
*If you go to any of these events and have suggestions, or articles you want to write, feel free to write to us here, so we can talk about publishing your piece in The Concordian!
So this week…
We wrote an article about free indigenous language classes. The Native Montreal Friendship center is making several languages available to the public!
The classes prioritize indigenous folks wanting to relearn/learn their native languages, but they are also open to anyone!
If you want to learn any of these languages, write to them, they might just have a space for you!
Read our article in issue 40, where Jeremy Cox tells you more, interviewing the coordinator of the center.
Mark your calendars, courses start September 19th.

Secondly, a contributor, Lily Blenkishop wrote an article about Expo Photos. If you haven’t been yet, it’s a beautiful exhibit and internationally known photographs. available to students for 12$.
Lily Blenkishop can tell you more in her article!
For a recommendation, this week I would recommend listening to the Podcast Passages - Ivre d’amour. Those who speak little French, they speak slowly, so it’s easy to understand if you are not bilingual yet.
Again if you have any articles you would like to contribute to the newspaper or art events you would like to promote, just write to us here arts@concordian.ca and we’ll start talking!
Have a good week,
Esther
