Hi everyone,
I hope you’re all staying safe and warm wherever you are. There are four graphics to grab for this upcoming digital issue, you can let me know if you’d like to grab one by emailing me (Carleen) at graphics@theconcordian.com. Otherwise, reach out anytime to ask questions, chat, or suggest graphics/art to feature!
All the graphics below are due back Sunday, November 5th at noon.
Title: The Front Commun Strike Is Scheduled!
Description: After rejecting the most recent offer, 400,000+ union members in public service across Quebec will strike this coming Monday. Front Commun demands a higher pay offer and to stop attacks on workers’ pension plans.
Suggestion: A long protest banner wrapping around hospitals, schools, and community centres, with a phrase such as “We are the front line”, or “Vive le Front Commun”.
Title: Preview of this Year’s Grammy’s
Description: Our Assistant Music Editor is taking a look at the albums and artists most likely to receive nods at the Grammy awards, focusing on Pop and Hip-hop.
Suggestion: Your favourite Grammy nominees — we’ve got Beyonce, Harry Styles, Kendrick, Brandi Carlile (yay!), Adele, ABBA, Doja Cat, and many others all nominated.
Title: Baseball United Opens
Description: A new baseball league for the Middle-East and South Asia is scheduled to begin in Dubai, further opening up the world of baseball.
Suggestion: We could do a baseball diamond, with each base showing one of the four cities in the league (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Karachi, and Mumbai). Open to more suggestions!
Title: Cinematic Nostalgia
Description: Reflecting on people's obsession with previous decades and why there are so many remakes and period pieces. Why don't we focus on our own generation?
Suggestion: A black & white newspaper comic of a Hollywood board meeting, with one of the members saying “What do you think, should we just re-make Narnia?”
That’s all for this week! If you’re interested in claiming a graphic, or have any questions, remember to reach out to me at graphics@theconcordian.com.
Thanks so much, everyone. Please take care of yourselves!
