Do YOU love drawing from a prompt?
Then you'll love our graphics pitches this week! (FOR PRINT!)
Hi all!
I hope you’re all having a wonderful Monday! We’ve got FOUR graphics pitches to claim that will be printed in our March newspaper! We’d love to see your wonderful art in print, so email me at graphics@theconcordian.com if you’d like to claim one!
These graphics are all due back on Sunday, March 19th.
Title: CSU Offers Massages for Women and Trans Folks
Description: Gender-affirming and holistic health services such as menstrual, reproductive and trans scar-care are being offered through the CSU this week.
Suggestion: A bit of an abstract piece, showing pads, DIVA cups, and vaginal shapes, with a dynamic scar moving like a river behind them. Alternatively, an abstract piece of various bodies with focus on the abdomens and chests. Respectful and restorative vibes, feel free to shoot me a message to talk about your ideas.
Title: Racism in Junior Hockey Quebec
Description: Interviews with junior hockey players who have been victims of racism, particularly focusing on one player who was called a slur during a game, and feels that Hockey Quebec has not dealt with the situation effectively.
Suggestion: A young, black hockey player standing alone on an empty hockey rink.
Title: Concordia’s HERstory Club
Description: Interviews with members of the club, focusing on their club’s vision, goals, and future events.
Suggestion: This story will focus on female empowerment, so I’d suggest a fun and bright graphic of women doing male dominated activities: boxing, vaulting, floating in a space suit! I imagine this being in a pop-art style, with halftone dots and lots of contrast.
Title: The Damaging Effects of Colonialism Revealed through Stolen Artifacts in Museums
Description: With the Rosetta Stone being returned to Egypt, what do stolen artifacts taken from other countries reveal about the continued effects and harm of colonialism?
Suggestion: A glass museum case placed over an ancient, crumbling ruin or sculpture in a dark and undisturbed forest.
That’s all, thanks so much for reading! Remember to email me at graphics@theconcordian.com to claim your pitch!
Have a wonderful week!
