4 GRAPHICS NEEDED for Digital Issue
Welcome back to the new semester, let's draw!
Hey, everyone!
Happy back-to-school, I hope your first classes are going wonderfully so far! The Concordian is back from the winter break and there are new articles needing graphics, so I hope you’re feeling rested & ready to draw! This week, we have four graphics to be assigned to wonderful artists. If you’d like to claim a graphic, reach out to me (Carleen) at graphics@theconcordian.com (or feel free to reach out about anything else, too!)
All the graphics below are due back Sunday, January 21st at noon.
Title: The Issues of Bell Let’s Talk
Description: As the annual mental health campaign run by Bell Canada approaches, our Opinions Editor argues that this campaign is a shallow way to address the mental health crisis, and points to deeper issues throughout the whole system.
Suggestion: A text-based graphic, some phrases like “Bell let’s talk about racism”, “Bell let’s talk about colonialism”, “Bell let’s talk about systemic injustice”, “Bell let’s stop pretending mental health issues aren’t exacerbated by artificial scarcity” (genuinely whatever capitalistic/colonialist structures you want to get in there, go for it, the list goes on!)
Title: The Future of Journalism is Audio
Description: What it is that makes audio journalism—specifically podcasting—an effective vessel for news? Generally, its accessibility (both in creation and consumption) and ability to resonate strongly with communities.
Suggestion: A comic of someone with many speech bubbles of news-worthy facts (“Did you hear about the new pipeline project? Did you know Montreal’s police budget is increasing again? etc”), someone responding asking how they know all this, and the answer: “Podcasts”.
Title: CF Montreal Season Preview
Description: With the new season schedule recently unveiled, our Sports Editor takes a look at the players and analyzes what to expect from the new season!
Suggestion: Maybe an action shot of one of the players, or a collage of the jerseys!
Title: Opportunities for Artists in January
Description: A recurring piece our Arts Editor curates of various opportunities across Montreal for Fine Arts students/artists.
Suggestion: We’re looking for a column graphic we can re-use throughout the year, something clean & simple! Possibly a notice board, easel, or tablet with ornamentation.
That’s all for this week! If you’d like to draw for one of the articles above, be sure to shoot me an email at graphics@theconcordian.com. Otherwise, to be added to our list of graphics contributors, click here.
Thanks so much, have a great end-of-semester, everyone!
